Fort Rinella

This fort was built by the British in 1878 and it was probably the most advanced technologically. It was supplied with the massive 100-ton gun intended to be the world’s largest cannon due to the fact that Malta at those times was being terrorized by Italy.During WWII the fort served as watch point for the British.

The gun is still on show at Fort Rinella in Kalkara. Now you can experience once again the history that occurred at Fort Rinella from Tuesday to Sunday. At 2.30 in the afternoon there will be unpaid helpers dressed as soldiers that will guide you through an animated tour.

The fee for guided tours is 8 euros for adults and 7 euros for children under 16. Familes with two adults and three children under 16 can pay 18 euros. For animated tours you add 5 euros more to the lists stated above. The fort is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm.
