Cabbage with beef jerky and fennel


I heard of beef jerky which is very popular in America but had never tried it. Its cured thin slices of beef which is then dehydrated . It is eaten as a snackDSCF0525 DSCF0518 DSCF0519 DSCF0520 but I thought I try include it in a recipe .
My mum cooks cabbage with bacon and I thought maybe it would work if I used beef jerky instead of bacon.
I heated some oil then fried a chopped onion and added the chopped beef jerky ,then added sliced cabbage and fried it a bit,Sprinkled a half a teaspoon of crushed fennel seeds and 1/2 cup of vegetable stock and simmered covered until the cabbage was just done. Must say it tasted real good and will be doing it again because my family gave it a thumbs up . 🙂 

This recipe can be cooked with bacon ,as I do not use pork I chose to use the beef jerky.
