In Guardia Parade

The In Guardia Parade re-enactment portrays an authentic event that used to take place quite regularly inside Fort St. Elmo. This event portrays the inspection of the fort and its garrison by the Grand Bailiff of the Order of the Knights of St. John, who was the person in charge of military affairs.

During the parade, the soldiers and knights of the fort’s garrison, amounting to around 70 reenactors, would be wearing their finest uniforms as they perform a military drill demonstrating to the Grand Bailiff the garrison’s readiness to act in the event of a military threat. You can visit the fort only before the re-enactment, so we advise that you go inside this historical fort in Valletta well before the In Guardia Parade starts.
