Upside down apple,cinnamon & yogurt cake


I had 4 green apples in the fruit bowl and decided to use them,was not really sure what to do,an apple tart,apple crumble,apple pudding…. I was peeling and trying to decide . I
wanted to do something different than usual so I chopped the apples and put them in a bowl. I added 1 tablespoon soft brown sugar ,1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom and 1 tablespoon honey . I greased a round cake tin,lined the base with baking paper and greased it then put 3/4 of the chopped apples on the base. In a bowl I sifted 1 cup self raising flour,1/4 cup sugar ,1/4 cup soft butter ,2 beaten eggs with 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1/2 cup plain yogurt. Beat everything until you have a smooth batter then fold in the remaining apples . Put the cake batter over the apple base and bake in 160 C oven until it takes a light golden colour,check with a skewer to see if cake is ready. Leave it to cool for about 10 minutes then run a knife around to loosen and invert over a plate .DSCF9877 DSCF9878 DSCF9876
