My Valentine’s Day gateau

For this gateau I made a white chocolate yogurt cake base . In a bowl whisk 2 150g cups of white chocolate flavour yogurt,2 eggs,1 cup sugar ,1/2 cup oil ,then sift over it 2 cups self raising flour and mix in the yogurt mixture until it is a smooth batter. Do not over beat. Bake in a 175 C oven for about 30 minutes. I used a square 10 in springform tin.
When still hot from the oven poke holes with the back of a wooden spoon in the suface of the cake and pour 3 tablespoons of warmed ,melted strawberry jam.
Over the jam layer take 2 large sliced bananas and saute in a frying pan in butter and sprinkle 2 tablespoons brown sugar and a good pinch of cinnamon . Stir while it fries and when it softens a bit spread it on the cake ,for some crunch I added roughly chopped walnuts .
Make 1/2 lt of custard and spread this over the banana layer. Let it cool completely then beat mascarpone & whipping cream,sweetining it according to taste and spread on top. As it was for Valentine’s day garnished it with a grated chocolate heart .Chill until it is time to serve.DSCF1549 DSCF1496 DSCF1497 DSCF1541
