Cottage pie with broccoli

I love one pot and one dish meals . I usually make my cottage or shepherd pies with a mash potato base and a mashed potato topping but today I just used the mashed potato for the base.
Peel ,dice and cook the potatoes for mashing.
In a pot heat some oil and saute 2 large chopped onions,3 garlic cloves ,diced carrots, zucchini . Fry a bit then add 1 teaspoon of mixed spice and 750g of minced beef . Fry on medium heat stirring occasionally until the meat is cooked. Add 2 cups of sliced fresh mushrooms and 1 cup of sweet corn. Mix in a few dashes of worchestershire sauce and 2 tablespoons of brown steak sauce. Season to taste with salt & pepper. I like to mix 2 tablespoons of mushroom soup with 250ml water and add it so it is creamy .
Cook some broccoli florets for a few minutes.
Mash the potatoes with milk ,salt & pepper and spread on the base of a greased deep oven dish.
Put the beef & veg sauce over the mashed potato base.
Press the broccoli florets in the beef sauce .
In a bowl beat 1 small carton of cooking cream (panna da cucina) ,3 eggs and 1 cup of milk ,salt & pepper to taste and pour this over the broccoli. A generous topping of grated cheese (I used mature cheddar cheese) .
Bake in a pre heated 180 C oven until the top sets and is a lovely golden colour.10002986_568025243304421_4819622035386841154_n
