  • Having just returned from Malta and tasted a wonderful recipe, we would like to try to make some ourselves. It was a sauce, deep tomato red in colour (the main ingredient?), certainly containing red peppers, capers and a little onion or shallot. Seved in very small individual pots to accompany a variety of dishes.
    Can anyone help?

  • Most probably it was called caponata.

  • No Lawrence, I think its salza piccanti.. which is a tomato sauce cooked with capers and onions, used traditionally with thinly sliced fried courgettes, or with fish.
