  • 1 kg shoulder bacon diced, or other bacon [ i like to use the shoulder bacon as it have no fat].
    1 packet of split peas soak in water for an hour.
    2 carrots diced
    1 small onion chopped fine.

    Fry the onion in a very little oil.
    Add the diced bacon, and fry with the onions for a 1 minute.
    Add the diced carrots.
    Rinse the split peas and add it the the pot
    Add enough water to cover,cook on medium heat, bring it to boil.
    Reduce the heat and let it simmer for an hour and a half, give it a stir every 10 to 15 minutes.
